6 Months Contract with Possibility of Extension
$95-$99 + Super Per Hour

About Company

A well-established Government organisation is undergoing a period of transformation and is seeking a Portfolio Manager to bring structure, visibility, and control across its landscape. With a growing portfolio of projects, initiatives, and BAU activity, there is a clear need to establish a single source of truth and improve how work is prioritized and delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing a centralised portfolio register capturing all projects, initiatives, pipeline demand, contract-driven work, and BAU-related activity
  • Designing and implementing a practical prioritization framework considering ROI, strategic alignment, risk, effort, and resource demand
  • Providing end-to-end visibility across the portfolio, including categorization of work (e.g. run, grow, transform) and investment allocation
  • Identifying duplication, overlaps, and inefficiencies, and recommending opportunities to consolidate or stop work
  • Delivering clear, concise portfolio reporting and insights to support executive decision-making around funding, trade-offs, and sequencing
  • Building simple, effective dashboards and reporting (Excel, Power BI, or similar) to present a clear view of performance and priorities
  • Supporting demand and capacity planning, ensuring resource allocation aligns to priority outcomes

About You

You will be a pragmatic portfolio professional who thrives in environments where structure is still being established. You will bring:

  • Proven experience setting up or maturing portfolio / PMO functions
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to assess value, prioritize effectively, and guide investment decisions
  • Experience implementing portfolio governance, prioritization frameworks, and reporting structures
  • The ability to balance process with practicality
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence working with senior executives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights
